HELLO FROM COOSEWARTHA

A FEW WORDS ABOUT US

Let us introduce ourselves

Coosewartha hosts a six berth holiday caravan situated in Mount Hawke, Cornwall. The caravan is run by the Polglase family on a small holding, being a family run concern for a west country friendly touch.

So why Coosewartha? Well, Coosewartha is the name of the small holding where our six berth holiday caravan is located. Coosewartha is a Cornish name, and the true Cornish to English translation is ‘house in the woods‘. The woods have long since passed, but the small holding is still surrounded by beautiful countryside with easy access to both the well-known locations and the hidden secrets that Cornwall has to offer

A PLACE TO STAY AND TO PLAY

Why you should stay with us during your time in Cornwall

Our six berth holiday caravan is situated in Mount Hawke, Cornwall, a central location to many popular towns such as Newquay, Falmouth and Truro as well as to the many beaches and attractions! The small holding where it is located (Coosewartha) hosts it as a single site, along with space to park a car and access to a spacious garden and trampoline.

ABOUT ACCOMMODATION

IN & AROUND COOSEWARTHA

The Holiday Caravan is pleasantly situated on our smallholding and is a single site. It is a six berth caravan with double end en suite bedroom which has a king size double bed, a room with two single bunks and converting double bed settee in the lounge of the caravan.

The accommodation includes kettle, fridge/freezer, flat screen TV with Freeview HD and BBC iPlayer, stereo with integrated speaker system, combi microwave oven, toaster and coffee maker, shower, central heating and washing machine. Cooker is run by connected gas which is included. There is no extra charge for fuel. There is an inside toilet, ensuite for the master bedroom and also an additional separate outside W.C.

Internet connected Free WiFi is available through Purple Wifi’s service using your social media accounts or signing up to Purple Wifi itself.

Ample car parking space is available. Duvets, sheets, pillow cases and tea towels are provided but please bring your own personal towels etc. Sorry, no pets. Direct bookings, particularly in summer months, are from Saturday to Saturday. The Caravan will be ready for occupation by 2:00 pm on day of arrival and must be vacated by 10:00 am on day of departure. All breakages are to be replaced or paid for.

When booking directly, a deposit of ¼ is required on booking with the balance payable on arrival. This can be paid via cheque or PayPal.

Coosewartha is situated on the edge of the village of Mount Hawke with Londis convenience store opposite and is within easy walking distance of village pub/restaurant, the parish church, Methodist chapel and morning Doctor’s surgery excluding Wednesdays.

We are 1½ miles from Porthtowan where on the beach there is bathing with lifeguards in attendance from spring bank holiday until the end of August. There are interesting walks along the spectacular coastal path and also inland. The beach has many rock pools and intriguing rock formations for children to explore and if you want to put your energy levels to the test, there are cycle paths to follow. If you want to get away from it all for a quiet family holiday, Coosewartha is ideal!

Many attractions are within a short drive such as: Gliding, Golf, Tennis, Surfing, Pony Riding and Theme Parks. Towns within a few miles are: St. Agnes, Perranporth, Newquay, St. Ives and of course – Truro with its beautiful cathedral and well known shops. Further afield – but still within easy travelling distance – you will find Lands End, Penzance, Falmouth with its wonderful harbour, and many other towns, villages and famous coves too numerous to mention.

In fact, Coosewartha is ideally placed for day trips to any part of Cornwall by car.

WALKTHROUGH

Here are a few wanders through the caravan. To the left are some rough panoramas so you can get a feel of the living room and kitchen. Underneath is a gallery of other outside photos which allow you to get a feel for the rest of the accommodation.

ABOUT THE AREA

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT CORNWALL

Stepping into one of Britain’s Celtic regions

Cornwall is the home to Celtic history and legend. Surrounded by three coasts of sea, the region was the home to King Arthur’s birthplace, tin mining for some of Britain’s first wealth and the beautiful mermaids which taunted sailor’s hearts. The Cornwall of today is a little different from those times, but it is a region still hosting quaint villages, bustling market towns and stretches of bright countryside which is simply unique.

It is both relaxing and exciting. Whilst Cornwall’s history lies in the forms of myth and legend, Cornwall’s future lies in the excitement of progress. The nationally famous Eden Project is open to all visitors, hosting a piece of nature from each corner of the Earth. There are also many other attractions which not only show off the region, but the innovativeness of its people and its welcome for people of all ages.

And let’s not forget the fact that it is surrounded by sea. Cornwall’s beaches are world famous, with Coosewartha itself only being a stone’s throw away from a beach. These are the places to relax, the places to surf, the places to swim and the places to explore. Even if it’s simply for a traditional west country ice cream.

ATTRACTIONS

Cornwall is full of attractions. Want to get an idea of them all? Luckily you don’t have to go off the beaten track if you don’t want to. To the left is the latest issue of the brochure for Cornish attractions. Inside, you’ll get a peek at what holiday activities Cornwall has to offer ranging from gardens to beaches to theme parks to zoos to performance. And that’s just a snippet. So feel free to have a gander.

Cornwall has a little something for everyone. You just have to find it

HOW TO FIND US

Where we are

Coosewartha is situated in a village called Mount Hawke near St. Agnes.

Above is a map. Be sure to use StreetView (or an equivalent) to have a look around and get a feel for the surrounding roads.

Directions

Take the main road through Cornwall (A30) and follow it until you have passed the signs to Perranporth. After a few miles you will come to a large roundabout (Chiverton Cross). You will recognise this roundabout by the Starbucks Coffee shop opposite the entry point.

Go right around the roundabout and take the 3rd exit B3277 leading to a smaller roundabout. From the 3rd exit, proceed past Chiverton Arms pub (on the right) when you will see a road on the left signposted ‘Porthtowan/Mount Hawke’.

Follow this road (keeping right) until you come to the ‘Mount Hawke’ village signs. Just past the signs, Coosewartha is on the left, just before the Church and almost opposite the convenience store.

We've just come back from a lovely stay here! The hosts are very warm and welcoming, making sure we were shown around and had everything we needed when we arrived late in the evening. A brilliant location and base for visiting our favourite places - Porthtowan is only a 20-30mins walk away. Well equipped kitchen so we were able to cook what we needed to, toasty warm bedding, everything we needed really. Hope to visit again soon! 🙂

JessAirbnb

Don't hesitate !!! 5 stars in every way. Cuppa on arrival 🙂 Wonderful hosts. Yummy scones hand made and delivered by Leila. Everything you will need is available and high quality. Wonderful hosts. Brian is an absolute gentleman. Can't praise enough.

SharonAirbnb

Brian and Leila are the perfect hosts! We had a lovely warm welcome [...] They were on hand if you needed them for anything but otherwise left us to our own devices. The holiday home overlooks lovely green fields and is in a quite village. [...] Although the village is quiet, it has 2 convenience stores and a pub/restaurant. It is easy to explore Cornwall from too. We would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to anyone.

ShirleyAirbnb

Really nice place. Everything was perfect and Brian and Leila were excellent hosts. Many thanks for the wonderful stay.

PeterAirbnb

Five Star apartment (it doesn’t feel like a static home); great, quiet location; near to amazing beaches and coastal walks. Brian and Leila were very welcoming and friendly and made the stay even better. We will be coming back!

TomAirbnb

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we would 100% recommend it to anyone. Very warm welcome from our hosts, fantastic location close to amenities and beaches. Beautifully furnished and incredibly clean! Loved every minute! 🙂

Sarah-JaneAirbnb

Great little place and very friendly owners. Fabulous beach two minutes drive away. Shops close and restaurant in walking distance but must be booked ahead. Thank you for a lovely stay.

NadineAirbnb

The caravan is in a village and it was easy to find. It felt very comfortable, central heating, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen. Most places to visit took us from half hour to an hour drive from the caravan so it is a good location to explore Cornwall from. We had a chance to chat to Brian and Leila every day if there were any quiestions. I can only recommend their place.

Brian and Leila's place was very well equipped, they gave a warm and friendly welcome (cup of tea and scones were very nice), lovely flowers in the caravan. Great location for exploring the area. Comfy bed and lounge, very warm, good internet and useful information pack. Will be back to stay again in the future. Thank you.
